Monterra – Community Development District
At University Drive
Miller Legg provided civil engineering services including the master earthwork design, surface water management design and permitting, master interconnect design, water and sewer utility design, paving and drainage and construction management and administration for a 526 acre development. The development of this parcel included a residential community including apartments, townhomes, single family units as well as three commercial/retail parcels and two wetland/mitigation areas. The Monterra Development project is an established Community Development District. The Consultant provides District Engineer Services to the Monterra CDD including administration of the construction contracts for the 160 million dollars of CDD infrastructure improvements. These improvements included turn lane, intersection and signal improvements at Stirling Road and University Drive, turn lane and transit amenities improvements along University Drive, turn lane, intersection and signal improvements at NW 33rd St. and University Drive as well as the widening of Sheridan Street between Pine Island Road and University Drive from 4 lanes to 6 lanes.
Master Drainage and Earthwork Plan
This 526-acre parcel was one of the last large remaining tracts of vacant unincorporated land in southwest Broward County. The project involves the development of a residential community that includes multi-family, townhomes, and single family units. In addition, the development includes a Town Center that will provide limited commercial, restaurant and retail uses. Miller Legg prepared a conceptual surface water management, earthwork, and pollution prevention plan as well as the drainage modeling utilizing AdICPR software for the post development condition containing twenty-five percent of water storage areas. The design utilized interconnected lakes and two proposed wetlands outfalling into a Central Broward Water Control District (CBWCD) canal within the project. Considerations were made in the design for off-site components including a future municipal site for Cooper City, the widening of Sheridan Street, and network of turn lanes at every egress/ingress location of the project. The concept was reviewed and approved by CBWCD, South Florida Water Management District, Broward County Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department and Cooper City.
