City of Sunny Isles Beach Pelican Community Park
A three-acre premier recreational active park for the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Miller Legg provided full design services for the City orchestrating park planning, landscape architecture, irrigation, engineering, surveying and architectural design services on a limited site.
Amenities of the park include the following:
- baseball field
- recreation building and gymnasium with a multi-use court
- playground area and structure
- other unique site and architectural features
The project management team at Miller Legg received recognition from the City for its involvement in the design completion of the Park. Miller Legg provided construction administration services to the City. In addition, we also provided grant assistance to secure a Florida Recreational Development Assistant Program (FRDAP) grant for $200,000. FRDAP is a competitive grant program that provides financial assistance to local governments for development or acquisition of land for public outdoor recreational purposes.

Related Projects
The City of Miami Morningside Park created an expanded and improved tennis facility at this 42-acre Park. The project included improvements to an existing seven (7) courts that had experienced degradation due to drainage and soil stabilization issues. A new court layout was developed to increase the facility to eight (8) lighted courts and a warm-up training wall amenity. Other tennis improvements included upgraded lighting, fencing ad shaded bench area.
